My Culinary Journey

My love affair with cooking began in my grandmother's kitchen in Jamaica, where the air was always thick with the aroma of scotch bonnet peppers, allspice, and fresh thyme. She taught me that cooking isn't just about following recipes—it's about understanding ingredients, trusting your instincts, and most importantly, cooking with love.

My love affair with cooking began in my mother's kitchen in Burkina Faso, where the air was always thick with the aroma of fresh ginger, dried hibiscus flowers, and aromatic West African spices. She taught me that cooking isn't just about following recipes—it's about understanding ingredients, trusting your instincts, and most importantly, cooking with love.

When I moved to North America, I faced a dilemma that many of us know too well: how do you maintain the rich, complex flavors of your heritage while adapting to a different food landscape and available ingredients? I refused to believe I had to compromise on the depth and authenticity that makes West African cuisine so extraordinary.

That's when my real culinary education began. I started exploring how to recreate the dishes of my childhood using ingredients I could find here, mastering the art of building layers of flavor, and learning how traditional techniques could be adapted to modern kitchens—all while preserving the soul and richness that makes this food so special.

What started as personal exploration became a passion for sharing these discoveries. I began documenting my recipes, sharing them with friends and family, and eventually built this community of food lovers who believe, like I do, that cooking should be an adventure that honors tradition while embracing creativity.

Today, I'm honored to share my kitchen with you through videos, recipes, and stories. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned cook looking for fresh inspiration, I hope my recipes encourage you to embrace the rich, bold flavors of West African cuisine and find joy in cooking for yourself and your loved ones.
